International Workshop on Informal Urbanism and Climate Change - Colombia 2023
Under an agreement between Universidad de La Salle (Colombia), Università degli Studi 'G. d'Annunzio' Chieti-Pescara (Italy), Università di Camerino (Italy) and Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), the International Workshop on Informal Urbanism and Climate Change was presented to the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism and the wider academic community. The workshop focused on the urban conditions and territorial intervention in Ciudad Bolívar, as well as on understanding the urban realities of Bogotá and Medellín. Its aim was to enable participants to learn about and experience methodologies for approaching architectural and urban projects through interaction with universities and communities in representative Colombian cities. Work was based on the perceptual experience of the territory, direct contact with local communities, seminars and interdisciplinary group sessions involving the participating universities. The methodology supported in-person activities and the production of materials analysing territories undergoing informal urbanisation, within the framework of territorial adaptation to climate change and environmental mitigation. Students were expected to produce a participatory diagnosis of the study area as a basis for territorial projects developed through organised community-management mechanisms, providing tools for influencing the formulation of plans and public policies. Outputs included urban furniture for a local community garden, a cartographic booklet with urban and environmental development guidelines focused on childhood, and several academic presentations.

Designing with APAE
The project involves activities at the school with children and the integration of university students and pupils. Activities include painting, drawing and creative development with children at APAE.
